KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today said his government should be given time to fulfil its mandate, again rejecting calls for an early general election.
He said Malaysians wanted political stability and economic growth, rather than being caught in a cycle of constant election campaigning.
"Give us the time under the mandate that we have until the election. Then we can fight it out. I have no problem with that," he said during Prime Minister’s Question Time at the Dewan Rakyat.
Anwar also said the government is listening to the people, who wanted it to focus on governing rather than politicking.
