GITAM Deemed to be University hosted its 17th convocation on Sunday, conferring degrees upon 3,052 graduating students across engineering, management, sciences, humanities, architecture, and pharmacy. The graduating cohort comprised 2,146 undergraduate students, 750 postgraduate students, and 156 doctoral scholars, alongside 29 students received gold medals for academic excellence.
Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar attended as the chief guest, while GITAM Chancellor Virander Singh Chauhan delivered the address. Member of Parliament and GITAM president M. Sribharat presided over the ceremonial proceedings.
The highlight of the ceremony was the conferment of the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) upon NITI Aayog Member Ramaswami Balasubramaniam. The honor recognises his grassroots leadership through the Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement and the Grassroots Research and Advocacy Movement in advancing healthcare, education, rural development, and evidence-based public policy.
