Giants QB Jaxson Dart will have knee surgery, ending his 2026 season - Yahoo Sports
New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart will miss the remainder of the 2026 season following knee surgery for MCL, PCL, and meniscus damage. The injury occurred during a loss to the Los Angeles Rams, leaving Jameis Winston to take over as the starting quarterback.
Why it matters
The loss of a starting quarterback significantly impacts the team's competitive outlook and playoff potential for the current season.
The New York Giatns quarterback will undergo surgery and land on injured reserve after getting hurt during Monday night's 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams , head coach John Harbaugh announced. While Dart is expected to make a full recovery, his 2026 season will be over.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Dart's injury includes damage to his left MCL, PCL and meniscus. There is reportedly no ACL damage.
Harbaugh met with reporters on Tuesday afternoon and said that Dart was continuing to be evaluated and they had not made any decisions on the quarterback's status. The team "learned a lot more" about the injury following the MRI.
Harbaugh confirmed the injury on Wednesday afternoon. He did stop short of ruling Dart out for the postseason, should the Giants make the playoffs, but Dart will have surgery in the near future.
