Ghana regulator says fuel reserves will last six weeks - MyJoyOnline

Ghana's National Petroleum Authority has confirmed that the country holds at least six weeks of fuel reserves. Officials stated that current stocks and incoming shipments are sufficient to meet domestic demand despite global market volatility.
Why it matters
Ensuring energy security is critical for Ghana's economic stability and prevents potential supply chain disruptions in the West African subregion.
--> Ghana’s National Petroleum Authority (NPA) said the country has fuel reserves sufficient for at least six weeks. The agency’s Chief Executive, Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, said that available stocks together with cargoes on vessels at sea create a reserve for the domestic market, MyJoyOnline reports .
Tamakloe stressed that the reserves would last “no less than six weeks.” Answering a question about whether that volume was sufficient, he also pointed to the significant number of vessels at sea carrying petroleum products.
According to the NPA head, his main concern is not the physical availability of fuel, but the possible impact of the situation on the international market on prices. Asked about potential supply problems over the next month, he answered in the negative.
