Ghana energy workers to hold nationwide action on September 29

--> Employees of the Electricity Company of Ghana will hold a nationwide peaceful demonstration in Ghana on September 29, 2026, against proposed private-sector participation in the company. This was reported by MyJoyOnline , citing a directive from the enterprise’s senior and junior staff unions.

The action will take place in all of the company’s operational regions and will last from 8:00 to 16:00. It is part of the unions’ campaign against the proposed Private Sector Participation scheme.

After the demonstration, participants are to return to the assembly points for a briefing before the event concludes. The action is expected to culminate in the submission of a petition to President John Dramani Mahama. In the regions, the petition will be handed over to regional ministers for further consideration.
