GER of 50% by 2035 an achievable target: IIT-Madras director
IIT-Madras Director V. Kamakoti stated that achieving a 50% Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education by 2035 is an achievable goal under NEP 2020. He proposed a collaborative model where students and parents actively encourage families from marginalized communities to pursue higher education.

Achieving Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) of 50 per cent by 2035, an NEP 2020 target, is possible through a collaborative strategy, V. Kamakoti, director, IIT-Madras said.
While speaking at the Sandipandi Vidyalaya School’s annual day on Sunday, Mr. Kamakoti said every higher secondary school student and their parents may talk to a minimum of 2-3 families from the marginalised communities and motivate them to enrol into higher education institutions, according to a press release.
