Genuine voters deleted in Vizianagaram under SIR, alleges Jana Chaitanya Vedika

Jana Chaitanya Vedika has alleged that the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Vizianagaram led to the mass deletion of genuine voters. The organization claims the process lacked transparency and was designed to favor the ruling NDA coalition.
Why it matters
Allegations of voter list manipulation strike at the core of democratic integrity and electoral fairness in India.
Jana Chaitanya Vedika State president Bankuru Jogi Naidu on Friday (October 2, 2026) alleged that the names of genuine voters had been deleted on a large scale in Vizianagaram district under the guise of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which was not given wide publicity in rural and semi-urban areas.
Speaking to the media here, he alleged that the Election Commission of India had introduced the SIR without anybody’s request or demand in the country, and that the exercise was taken up to benefit the NDA parties. He asked the government to hold local body elections only after a genuine revision of the voters’ list, and expressed concern over the deletion of nearly 10 lakh genuine voters’ names from the lists.
