Gemini app simplifies thinking level, adding settings for Notifications
Google is updating the Gemini app with a simplified 'Thinking level' interface and new notification settings. The update also introduces a redesigned task management system for Gemini Spark users on Android.

Previously, the Gemini app’s model picker used a dropdown menu to set “Thinking level” in a two-stage process:
Google is now simplifying this by no longer explicitly listing the “Standard” default and just showing “Extended thinking” for a one-step process. We’re seeing this change widely rolled out on Android and the web.
Another tweak today sees Gemini Spark on Android switch to top tabs for All, Scheduled, Needs input, In progress, and Completed. The old menu button in the top-right corner is now a magnifying glass icon to “Search tasks.” This follows Google AI Pro users getting access to Spark last week.
