GCC identifies 593 mosquito breeding hotspots in city, intensifies measures for prevention of dengue

As dengue cases continue to increase in the city, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has identified 593 hotspots for intensifying vector control activities.

The number of dengue cases reported in Chennai Corporation zones increased to 767 on Monday, when compared to 654 on Sunday. The Chennai Corporation has started monitoring fever cases in the city as 5,296 fever cases have been reported in the month of September so far.

A total of 3,697 workers has been engaged in vector control activity with each worker covering 80 to 100 houses per day. On Monday, a review of all staff of the public health department, including domestic breeding checkers, was conducted by commissioner G.S. Sameeran.
