GCC Commissioner inspects flood preparedness works; NDRF personnel demonstrate emergency rescue measures
Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner G.S. Sameeran inspected flood mitigation works in Manali and Madhavaram zones ahead of the Northeast monsoon. The visit included reviews of stormwater drain construction, desilting of water channels, and coordination meetings with the NDRF and local resident associations.

Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) Commissioner G.S. Sameeran inspected precautionary works taken in Manali and Madhavaram zones on Saturday, ahead of the Northeast monsoon.
In Madhavaram Zone, he inspected the stormwater drain work under way on the Madhavaram-Red Hills Road in Ward 24 and desilting work in the Puzhal surplus water channel. He also inspected the point where the surplus water channel from Ambattur and Korattur lakes joins near Sri Balaji Nagar Third Main Road, according to a press release.
In Manali Zone, he inspected the Puzhal surplus water channel near the CPCL bottle bridge and Amullavoyal bridge in Ward 18. He instructed officials to remove the water hyacinth and vegetation and undertake desilting work in the channel, the release added.
Officials from the GCC, Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Water Resources Department, Public Works Department and the Highways Department were present.
