The incident occurred at about 6pm on Saturday, October 10, 2026, in Ireda Central Park Cell, Lira City East Division.
The deceased were identified as James Okabo and another man known only as Daniel, both adults.
Martin Omara, the LC1 secretary for defence in Ireda Central Park Cell, told police that the victims were repairing a motorcycle at the garage when the welding gas cylinder they were using exploded, killing them instantly.
“The incident occurred in the middle of the market area, where members of the public were present and some of the victims were people who were transacting business in the market,” Mr Omara said in a statement recorded by police.
