Garmin launches screenless Cirqa Smart Band to rival Whoop

Garmin has launched the Cirqa Smart Band, a $199.99 screenless fitness tracker designed to compete with Whoop. The device offers continuous health monitoring and does not require a subscription, marking a shift in Garmin's wearable strategy.
Why it matters
The entry of a major player like Garmin into the screenless tracker market intensifies competition in the health-tech sector and challenges the subscription-based model.
Garmin has released the Cirqa Smart Band, a $199.99 screen-free fitness tracker, joining a growing field of wearables that forgo displays in favour of continuous background health monitoring. The device is available now and can be worn either on the wrist or as an armband.
The Cirqa tracks a broad range of health metrics around the clock, including heart rate, skin temperature, stress levels, sleep and women's health data. It also draws on heart rate variability and VO2 max readings to generate a "Body Battery" score, Garmin's method of estimating how rested or fatigued a user is, a concept similar to recovery scores offered by other wearable brands.
