Garbage transfer stations opened in Thathaneri and Kochadai
Two new garbage transfer stations have been inaugurated in Thathaneri and Kochadai to improve solid waste management efficiency. The facility is designed to compress waste, reducing the number of trucks required for transport to the main yard.

Two garbage transfer stations at Thathaneri and Kochadai, built at a cost of ₹19.90 crore, were inaugurated here on Saturday.
The state-of-the-art facility is expected to speed up disposal of solid waste in an effective and hygienic manner and also pave way for clearing of garbage at a faster pace. It would, in the long run, help in improving the eco-system and also improve the quality of air as the garbage would no longer be exposed while being transported.
Inaugurating the station, Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar said the government would provide necessary support to the civic body in keeping the environment clean and green. The project, which was completed under Central fund, would lift garbage swiftly from 51 wards spread across four zones out of the five zones and out of 100 wards.
