As crews continue to gain control over the Gann Fire in Calaveras County, officials said Thursday that they recovered a body from a burned home. The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office said the body was found along Jaquima Drive in Angels Camp. Friends identified the victim as Susan Solari. Solari was a longtime dog breeder who was active in the American Kennel Club. Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a State of Emergency in response to the fire, which Cal Fire says has destroyed 18 structures and left a firefighter injured as of Thursday night. A State of Emergency proclamation gives California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) and state agencies the authority to provide additional resources as needed to deal with a crisis. The Gann Fire started shortly before 5:30 p.m. Monday near Hogan Dam and Gann roads near New Hogan Lake.
