Two persons in a car threw a packet of ganja towards a convict staffing the Prisons Department-run fuel station near the Salem Central Jail on Wednesday evening, before driving away.

According to police, the convict, a lifer identified as R. Periyasamy (46) of Sivathapuram, took the packet to the generator room. The prison staff, who saw this via CCTV cameras, went to the generator room and found 80 grams of ganja inside the packet.
