G4: UNSC losing its credibility, unable to maintain global peace

NEW DELHI: Meeting on the margins of United Nations General Assembly, G4 countries called for a reform of the UNSC at the earliest, saying in a joint statement that the council is currently unable to effectively discharge its core responsibility of maintaining international peace and security.The G4 group of countries (India, Japan, Brazil, and Germany) supports urgent reforms of the security council through the expansion in both permanent and non-permanent categories of membership of UNSC."Discussed the imperative of reformed multilateralism and a more representative, responsive and effective UN Security Council that reflects today's global realities.
