Telangana is set to get a new world-class cricket stadium in the Future City, with the State government exploring a suitable 100-acre site for the ambitious project. The foundation stone is likely to be laid in December, according to sources.
The proposed stadium is being planned as a stadium-cum-multipurpose sporting and events space, with facilities modelled on iconic venues such as Lord’s in England and leading stadiums in Australia.
The initiative follows directions from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who has emphasised developing world-class sports infrastructure in the Future City. Officials are currently examining suitable locations in Bharat Future City for the proposed stadium.
With a planned seating capacity exceeding 1.32 lakh at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the proposed Hyderabad facility is expected to become the largest cricket stadium in the country. Its construction cost is also likely to surpass that of the Ahmedabad stadium.
