THE FUNERAL OF Jamey Carney is to take place in Co Kerry today.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the death of the 43-year-old American, who was found dead with severe head injuries at her home in Killarney on 7 July.

A mass will take place at midday at St Mary’s Cathedral in Killarney, followed by a private cremation.

The service will be live-streamed so that family and friends in the US, where Jamey Carney is from, can follow proceedings.

Ahmad al-Saqar (28), a person of interest in the investigation who was romantically involved with Jamey Carney for a number of months before her death, was detained in his native country of Jordan in recent days and remains in custody .

Al-Saqar had already left Ireland when the 43-year-old American’s body was discovered last Tuesday in the home she shared with her teenage daughter, on the Muckross Road in Killarney.
