Full version of Vande Mataram sung at VTU convocation

The full version of national song Vande Mataram was sung at the 26th annual convocation of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in Belagavi as it was attended by Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot.

Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara, Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayareddi and other dignitaries attended the convocation at the university’s Jnana Sangama campus.

The rendition of the full song came amid the ongoing differences over the issue between the State government and the Governor.

The Karnataka government had issued an order stating that only the first two stanzas of the national song are to be sung at State functions. However, the entire six stanzas will be played or sung in functions involving the President, Vice-President, Prime Minister, or Governor, the order said.
