Full-time neurology service to begin at Ernakulam General Hospital

Ernakulam General Hospital is launching a full-time neurology service starting next week to improve access to specialized care. This initiative aims to assist the general public and economically disadvantaged patients who previously had limited access to such services.
Why it matters
Expanding specialized medical services in public hospitals significantly improves healthcare accessibility for underserved populations.
The Ernakulam General Hospital will offer a full-time neurology service from next week. Dr. Prebhudas R., Superintendent, said the service is being offered for the first time. Earlier, the facility was available only once in a week.
With the launch of the new facility, specialised treatment and diagnostic services for neurological disorders will become more accessible. It will also help economically disadvantaged patients and the general public access neurological care through the government healthcare system, according to a communication.
