Fuel protest group call on Govt to abolish carbon tax

The organisers of a meeting this evening called in response to the cost-of-living crisis say the Government must "abolish carbon tax across the board".

The meeting was organised by the group involved in fuel protests earlier this year. It took place in the Midlands.

Speaking after this evening's meeting in Moate, one of the organisers, John Dallon, said if that does not happen, it seems people "want to go back to the roads"

Mr Dallon said it is now up to the Government to listen to the people because there is no point coming back when there is people protesting.

He said the Tánaiste Simon Harris had engaged with the organisers in Navan last Friday.

"He sat down and we gave him a document and in that was everything from the cost of living to carbon tax and price of fuel as well all other considerations," he said.
