FromSoftware can do anything

FromSoftware, the acclaimed Japanese video game studio known for 'Soulslike' games like Elden Ring, is expanding its horizons with 'The Duskbloods,' a competitive multiplayer vampire game exclusive to the upcoming Switch 2. This new title represents a significant departure in genre, setting, platform, and publisher for the studio, a move made possible by the immense success of Elden Ring. President Hidetaka Miyazaki indicates the studio now has the confidence to explore more diverse and potentially 'risky' ideas.
Why it matters
This article highlights a major shift in strategy for a highly influential game developer, potentially signaling new trends in game development, console exclusives, and the evolution of established studios, impacting the gaming industry and player expectations.
There’s something just a little bit different about FromSoftware’s office in Tokyo. But the hallways are painted black, a fitting theme for a developer known for crafting dark, gothic worlds and a hint at what new creations are lurking inside.
