From pipelines to railways and AI: Ottawa pitches 167 projects ahead of Carney's investment summit

The Canadian government has prepared a prospectus of 167 infrastructure and energy projects to present to international investors at an upcoming summit. The initiative aims to attract $1 trillion in capital to diversify Canada's economic ties amid global trade uncertainty.
Why it matters
This strategy reflects Canada's attempt to secure long-term economic stability and reduce reliance on the U.S. market through large-scale international investment.
The projects are outlined in a 66-page "prospectus" obtained by CBC News, which gives the most detailed look yet at the investment opportunities Ottawa and Canadian business leaders plan to showcase at the summit.
The Sept. 14 and 15 gathering, hosted by the prime minister in partnership with the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Public Sector Pension Investment Board, will bring together deep-pocketed international investors and Canadian business leaders in hopes of drumming up $1 trillion in investment.
CBC News previously reported that invitations went out to some of the world's biggest investment firms and sovereign wealth funds as part of a broader push to attract capital at a time of trade upheaval and geopolitical uncertainty.
With the U.S.-Canada trade war escalating, the government is also under pressure to deepen economic ties beyond the United States.
