A Philippine Air Force FA-50PH fighter jet developed a minor mechanical problem before landing safely in Ambon, Indonesia, on Aug. 9 while returning from Exercise Pitch Black 2026 in Australia. No injuries were reported.
PAF maintenance personnel repaired and inspected the aircraft in Ambon, which was later declared fully mission capable. All PAF aircraft involved in the return flight have since safely landed in the Philippines.
The PAF contingent took part in the multinational Pitch Black exercise from July 20 to Aug. 7, with DND Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr. praising its performance, including a Filipino pilot becoming the country's first to qualify as a force commander.
