Free bus service launched for students in Anaimalai, Topslip in Coimbatore district
A new free bus service has been launched in Coimbatore to transport students from remote forest areas to their schools. The initiative is funded by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited as part of their corporate social responsibility program.

Nearly 100 students from five schools in the Anaimalai and Topslip areas of Coimbatore district will benefit from a free daily bus service launched on Tuesday (September 8, 2026) with support from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar flagged off two buses at the Anaimalai taluk office on Tuesday. The two 26-seater vehicles were provided at a cost of ₹44 lakh.
“The buses will operate without any fare and will pick up students in the morning and drop them back in their respective areas in the evening,” Mr. Giriyappanavar said.
The buses will operate on two routes — Kozhikamuthi–Topslip and Kozhikamuthi–Anaimalai. The service is intended to provide regular transport to students from forest and remote areas.
