Meta has unveiled several new wearables powered by its artificial intelligence models, including an audio-only, camera-free version of its smart glasses, amid global concerns about privacy and the filming of women and girls without their consent.
Chief executive Mark Zuckerberg announced the new line-up of glasses at the social media giant’s annual Connect conference at its Menlo Park headquarters on Wednesday, when he also touted the company’s new personal AI assistant, Muse.
“There are almost 2 billion people in the world who wear glasses today ... and we think that, in the coming years, most of these are going to get upgraded to AI glasses,” Zuckerberg told the audience of developers and executives.
Muse would be “the centrepiece of our vision”.
