The Central CEN police have registered a case after unidentified persons allegedly created a fake website of the State government-run Kumarakrupa Guest House and cheated customers by accepting online payments for room bookings.
According to the complaint filed by Karthik Santhosh, senior manager of the guest house, unidentified persons created a fake website (https://kumarkrupaguesthouse.in/) by misusing the name of the guest house.
The police said the fraudsters allegedly offered online room bookings through the fake website and sent fabricated bills and invoices to customers, inducing them to make online payments. The scam came to light after several customers informed the guest house management that they had received fake booking confirmations and payment receipts.
