A senior official of the Tambaram Police Commissionerate said Mukundan (42), a resident of Ponmar near Kelambakkam, was riding his two-wheeler from Mambakkam towards Ponmar bringing back Sushanth, a kindergarten student, and his twin sons from school on Thursday (August 6, 2026). As they approached Mambakkam, a speeding car coming from the opposite direction collided with the motorcycle, throwing all four of them onto the road. Sushanth, who was seated in the front, sustained a severe head injury and died on the spot. The others, including Mukundan, suffered minor injuries and were rushed to a private hospital.
