The police on Friday (July 24, 2026) arrested four transgender persons on charges of extorting money from an auditor and assaulting a Head Constable attached to the Thudiyalur police station in Coimbatore.
Mobina (27), Magathi (21), Iniya (22) and Orange (21) were arrested in connection with the incident that took place on Mettupalayam Road late on Thursday.
A 49-year-old auditor from Annur complained to the police that a group of transgender persons extorted ₹11,700 from him through UPI payments when he halted his car on Mettupalayam road late on Thursday. Police personnel from Thudiyalur station reached the spot around 11.30 p.m. based on his complaint.
