Four to six servings of wholegrain per day lowers risk factors for heart disease
Sophia Antipolis, France - 16 September 2026: Eating four to six servings of wholegrain each day reduces several major risk factors for cardiovascular disease, according to a new study published in the European Heart Journal [1] today (Wednesday).
The study is a systematic review and meta-analysis, meaning it brings together the results of all existing research in this area. It includes data from 87 clinical trials that tested the effects of eating wholegrain food on risk factors for cardiovascular disease.
It shows that eating a diet rich in wholegrain food is likely to prevent heart disease by reducing body weight, blood pressure and the levels of cholesterol and glucose in the blood.
