Four sentenced to 20-year rigorous imprisonment in 2017 gang rape case

A special court in Karimnagar has sentenced four individuals to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for a 2017 gang rape case. The court also imposed fines on the convicts, including a woman found guilty of abetting the crime.

Four persons were sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a 2017 gang rape case by special court for trial of cases under the SCs and STs (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in Karimnagar on Friday. The court also imposed a fine of ₹11,000 on each convict.
The court found Gundaboina Shankar, 45, and Nyatari Swamy, 40, both from Peddapalli district and Sanjay Kumar Yadav, 30, from Bihar, guilty of gang raping a woman who worked at a rice mill in Sultanabad mandal, on March 10, 2017. The fourth convict, a 40-year-old woman from Sultanabad, was found guilty of abetting the crime.
