Four port projects in Andhra Pradesh to reduce logistics costs by up to 50%, says Minister
Andhra Pradesh Minister B.C. Janardhana Reddy announced that four ongoing port projects will significantly increase cargo capacity and reduce logistics costs by up to 50%. The state is also investing in fishing harbours to support the local fishing community and generate employment.

Four port projects in Andhra Pradesh will add 108 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTA) of cargo handling capacity and reduce logistics costs by 30 per cent to 50 per cent, Infrastructure and Investments Minister B.C. Janardhana Reddy told the Assembly on Tuesday.
The Minister was replying to a question raised by MLAs Somireddy Chandra Mohan Reddy, Gouthu Sireesha and Kagitha Krishnaprasad on ports and fishing harbours, their funding, clearances and construction status.
He said that Ramayapatnam Port in Prakasam district, Machilipatnam Port in Krishna, Kakinada Gateway Port and Mulapeta Port (formerly Bhavanapadu) in Srikakulam district are either proposed or under construction. Their estimated cost is ₹17,067 crore. The State has allocated ₹400 crore, while ₹9,175 crore has been released through the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board and spent.
