Four pilgrims sustained injuries after their car lost control and crashed into a roadside tree near Srivarimettu in Tirupati on Sunday (September 6, 2026).
The victims were identified as G. Prem Kumar (37), Rama Devi (56), N. Padma (56), and N. Yadagiri (58), residents of Ameerpet, Hyderabad, in Telangana. The injured were reportedly taken to a hospital for treatment. Upon receiving information, the police arrived at the scene and gathered evidence. The police are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
Speaking to The Hindu , Tirumala Traffic Inspector Hari Prasad said, “A majority of accidents occur here mainly due to restless driving, commuting in unfit vehicles, and lack of awareness about ghat roads. The warning boards are in place to prevent speed, reckless driving, and overtaking.”
