Four Indians killed, one injured in attack on ship leaving Ukraine’s Odesa, MEA says
Four Indian nationals were killed and one was critically injured following a Russian missile strike on a commercial ship leaving the Ukrainian port of Odesa. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has condemned the attack and is providing assistance to the affected crew.

An attack on a ship leaving Ukraine’s southern port of Odesa on Sunday (July 19, 2026) killed four Indians and left another at hospital in a critical condition, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Monday (July 20).
The vessel MV Golden Leo — with 17 crew members on board, including five Indian nationals — was hit by Russia with three cruise missiles on Sunday (July 19), Ukraine’s Navy wrote on the Telegram messaging app.
“India condemns such attacks and reiterates that targeting commercial shipping and endangering innocent civilian crew members, or otherwise impeding freedom of navigation and commerce, is deplorable and should be avoided,” the MEA said in a statement posted on X.
