Four children, including two sisters, were fatally knocked down by a van near Vadamadurai in Dindigul district on Sunday (August 30, 2026).

The police said Anjammal, 60, of Kanavaimedu near the Kollapatti Samathuvapuram, was grazing her goats near the national highway. Four of her relatives’ children were playing nearby on the road side. A van, carrying milk, mowed down the children who died on the spot. Apprehending trouble, the driver fled the spot.

The police identified the children as Yogavarshini, 11, daughter of Nagaraj, and her younger sister, Ananya, 6; Dhanusri, 5, daughter of Jagadeesan; and Mosikaran, 6, son of Chinnathambi. Anjammal fainted in the aftermath of the accident, and was rushed to a primary health centre, the police added.
