Four children, including two girls, drowned in the Periya Eri in Chromepet on Sunday.

A senior official of the Tambaram Police Commissionerate said the four children — Yuvanesh, 10, Pooja, 13, Khushi, 13, and Devadharshan, 12, — residents of Lakshmipuram of Chromepet had gone for swimming on Saturday evening in the Periya Eri, located on Thiruneermalai Main Road.

The children did not inform their parents. The parents, Kirubakaran, father of Devardarshan, and Dhayalan, father of Yuvanesh, filed a missing complaint in the Chromepet police station as they could not find them.

The Chromepet police were alerted by the residents around Periya Eri that four dead bodies were floating in the lake on Sunday.
