Four children dead, one missing after landslides hit Buhweju homes

Four children have been confirmed dead, and one is still missing after landslides swept away two homes in Rukiri Parish, Bihanga Sub-County, Buhweju West, Buhweju District, following heavy rains on Thursday night. The disaster occurred after hours of downpour that forced the Ndurumo River out of its course, triggering the landslides that buried the homes behind Rukiri Primary School. According to residents, locals rushed to the scene and used hand hoes to dig through the debris and rescue their neighbours. Mr John Bosco Tumuhereze, LC3 Chairman Bihanga Sub-County, confirmed the death saying that bodies have been taken to Bihanga Health center III.
