Western Cape police have launched a murder investigation after the burnt bodies of four people were found in an open field in Dunoon on Sunday afternoon.

The bodies, which have not yet been identified, were discovered metres apart near the N7 off-ramp on Malibongwe Drive.

Milnerton police were called to the scene where they found the charred remains in an open field adjacent to the road. According to the police, the bodies has been burnt beyond recognition.

Initial observations at the crime scene indicated that tyres had been used to set the victims alight.
