Foster + Partners designs pair of skyscrapers in Armenia

Architecture firm Foster + Partners has unveiled designs for two new skyscrapers in Yerevan, Armenia. The project aims to integrate modern urban development with the city's historic garden-city masterplan.
Why it matters
This project represents a significant international investment in Armenian urban infrastructure and highlights the influence of global architecture firms on local heritage.
The central green axis of the nearby park will be extended to form a route leading to a podium at the base of the skyscrapers.
Foster + Partners aims for the public spaces to reference the area’s architectural heritage in its design for World Trade Center Yerevan.
The development is set to be built in an area of Yerevan that was masterplanned in 1924 by Armenian architect Alexander Tamanian, who had ambitions to transform the Armenian capital into a garden city.
“Our scheme celebrates the outdoor life of the city by connecting the urban fabric with public spaces, ensuring our new interventions work in harmony with the historic grain,” said Foster + Partners partner Juan Frigerio.
