Forum of Civil Pensioners’ Association stages demonstration in Kanniyakumari, Thoothukudi
Civil pensioners in Kanniyakumari and Thoothukudi held demonstrations to demand the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme and other welfare benefits. The protesters are calling for policy changes, including the merger of Dearness Allowance with basic pay and pension revisions for retirees.

The Forum of Civil Pensioners Association (FCPA) staged a demonstration in Nagercoil on Wednesday, pressing for 11-point demands, including implementation of the old pension scheme and updation of bank employees pension.
The demonstration in Nagercoil was presided over by FCPA Kanniyakumari district president P. Rajanayakam. The protestors raised several demands, including the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, withdrawal of the Pensioners Validation Act and amendment of the 8th Pay Commission Terms of Reference (ToR) to enable pension revision for those who retired before 2026.
They also demanded that 50% of Dearness Allowance be merged with basic pay and pension, updating of pension for bank employees and steps to ensure equality in pension benefits, among other demands. The protestors said that the demands were aimed at protecting the interests and welfare of pensioners.
