Fortis Healthcare, Takeda launch ‘Mission Dengue Free India’ campaign

Fortis Healthcare and Takeda India have launched the 'Mission Dengue Free India' campaign to increase public awareness regarding dengue prevention and symptom recognition. The initiative aims to address the high burden of the disease in India by providing educational resources and community-based training.
Why it matters
Public-private partnerships in healthcare are essential for managing seasonal disease outbreaks and reducing the strain on national medical systems.
Fortis Healthcare and Takeda India have announced the launch of ‘Mission Dengue Free India’, a nationwide disease awareness campaign aimed at strengthening community awareness, promoting preventive health behaviours and encouraging early recognition of dengue symptoms.
According to the National Centre for Vector Borne Disease Control (NCVBDC), more than 1.13 lakh dengue cases were officially reported across India in 2025. However, experts believe the actual burden is likely to be higher, as many patients may not seek care at medical facilities. India continues to account for nearly one-third of the global dengue burden, with seasonal outbreaks placing pressure on healthcare systems during the monsoon months.
While advances have been made in diagnosis and treatment, awareness around prevention, early symptom recognition and timely medical intervention remains inconsistent.
