Formula 1 result: Liam Lawson taken out by teammate in difficult Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Liam Lawson’s already slim hopes of achieving anything at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix were ended by his teammate, as the Kiwi crossed the finish line 12th in Baku.

On the same track where he achieved the best qualifying and finishing positions of his career one year earlier, Lawson lacked the pace needed to challenge for points over the course of the 51-lap race, despite being 10th early on.

However, as the race resumed after a safety car on lap 35, the Kiwi was hit from behind by his Racing Bulls teammate Arvid Lindblad and fell to the back of the pack.

Lindblad locked up into turn one and his front right tyre clipped Lawson’s rear left, with the resulting impact also causing damage to the Kiwi’s car floor. Race stewards ruled the incident didn’t warrant any punishment for Lindblad.
