Formula 1: Liam Lawson to start 11th in Malaysia as Racing Bulls’ teamwork falls short

Formula 1 driver Liam Lawson qualified 11th for the Malaysian Grand Prix after missing out on the final qualifying session by a narrow margin. Despite the result, Lawson remains optimistic about his race prospects given his past success at the Sepang circuit.
Why it matters
The performance reflects the competitive nature of F1 and the strategic importance of teamwork and technical adjustments in qualifying.
Despite some exceptional teamwork, just over two-tenths of a second stood between Liam Lawson and the final stage of qualifying for Formula One’s Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
As Formula One returns to Sepang for the first time since 2017 , the Kiwi could only post the 11th-fastest time and missed out on a place in the third and final session of qualifying (Q3) by just 0.209s.
However, after tension between the Racing Bulls teammates in Azerbaijan , Lawson would have been further adrift were it not for Arvid Lindblad, who gave the Kiwi a tow – breaking the air in front of him – for his final lap of the second session.
“It’s pretty annoying,” Lawson said post-qualifying. “We looked quite comfortable in practice this morning.
