Former Sub-Registrar of Murappanadu arrested in Meenakshi Temple trust land scam

Madurai police have arrested a former Sub-Registrar in connection with a multi-crore land scam involving the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple. This is the sixth arrest in an ongoing investigation into illegal land registration and power of attorney fraud.

Madurai City Police have arrested Anantharaman, former Murappanadu Sub-Registrar (Thoothukudi district) in connection with the illegal registration of trust land serving Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple. He was arrested on Thursday.
This is 6th arrest made by Central Crime Branch sleuths probing the multi-crore land scam.
The then Sub-Registrar had been named as the 15th accused in the case registered in July.
Anantharaman has been accused of illegally registering the land through a power of attorney to two accused identified as S. Ilayaraja of Usilampatti and P. Aneesh of Tiruvallur in April 2021 at the Murappanadu Sub-Registrar office.
