Former Rajya Sabha MP V. Vijayasai Reddy has announced his intention to launch a new political party in Andhra Pradesh. He plans to detail his roadmap for the party in Vijayawada later this month.
Why it matters
The entry of a former high-ranking YSRCP official into the political arena as an independent actor could shift the political landscape in Andhra Pradesh.
Former Rajya Sabha member V. Vijayasai Reddy said on Wednesday (August 19, 2026) that he would float a new political party in Andhra Pradesh . It ends 19 months of speculation about his return to public life.
He said so after praying at the Tirumala temple with his family for the venture. The party’s main aim would be to make the people’s voice heard in Parliament and the Assembly, he said, and it would be a platform to take up their problems and fight on their behalf.
