Former MP Bellana Chandrasekhar is new President of YSRCP in Vizianagaram district
The YSR Congress Party has appointed Bellana Chandrasekhar as the new district president for Vizianagaram following the resignation of Majji Srinivasa Rao. The party is currently reorganizing its local leadership and coordinator roles in preparation for upcoming local body elections.
Why it matters
This leadership shuffle reflects the internal political maneuvering within Andhra Pradesh's regional parties as they attempt to consolidate power ahead of local elections.
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) high command has appointed former Member of Parliament Bellana Chandrasekhar as the new President of the party for Vizianagaram district in the backdrop of resignation of Majji Srinivasa Rao who joined TDP a week ago.
Interestingly, the party selected Gadala Sanyasi Naidu as coordinator for Nellimarla constituency which is currently headed by former MLA Baddukonda Appala Naidu.
Mr. Naidu is brother in law of Mr. Srinivasa Rao and it could be the reason for the change of the coordinator for Nellimarla constituency, according to sources.
The party which held its district level review meeting hoped that it would regain its glory in local body elections. In previous elections held in the year 2019, the party emerged victorious in all 34 mandals apart from winning mayor seat in Vizianagaram district.
