Former FDC legal secretary Okot Bitek crosses to NRM

Former Member of Parliament for Kioga County in Amolatar District and one-time national legal secretary of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has crossed to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM). Mr Moses Junior Okot Bitek abandoned the FDC on Saturday and was received at NRM party headquarters in Kampala by the party's Secretary General, Mr Richard Todwong, alongside a delegation of former FDC members — including district leaders and former political contestants from Amolatar — who also defected to the ruling party. The delegation was accompanied by Amolatar NRM District Chairman Kamilo Olwit and members of the District Executive Committee. Also present was Okot's mother, Ms Kelle Akuno, an elder in Amolatar District, who welcomed her son's decision and thanked party members who had supported his political transition. She said her continued advice and guidance had encouraged him to consider the benefits of working with government.
