The article highlights the intersection of professional sports, public health policy, and the ongoing political polarization surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
Evander Kane does not appear to be a fan of Dr. Anthony Fauci.
The former Vancouver Canucks winger took aim at the longtime federal health official, after he was held in contempt of Congress on Thursday by a Republican-led Senate committee . It came after the 85-year-old invoked the Fifth Amendment on multiple occasions, on the advice of his counsel.
Kane, who the NHL suspended for 21 games in 2021 for breaking COVID-19 protocol , used the news as an opportunity to sound off on social media.
“Imagine believing that someone else’s injection was supposed to protect someone who didn’t get one… and then calling other people the idiots,” Kane said. “And acting like that was obvious science.”
“And the media didn’t just repeat it, they amplified it, enforced it, and treated anyone who questioned it like they were dangerous.”
