A Tiruvallur court has sentenced former AIADMK MP N.S. Jeganathan to two-year imprisonment in a case relating to his second marriage, allegedly conducted without the knowledge of his first wife.
Jeganathan, 69, a resident of Andersonpet in Poonamallee union of Tiruvallur district, had served as the AIADMK MP from Sriperumbudur in 1977.
He is married to Lalitha, 63, and has two sons, Sadagopan and Madhan, and a daughter, Sujatha. He allegedly married Vanitha, 58, without informing his first wife. The couple have three children.
In 2016, Lalitha lodged a complaint with the Tiruvallur All Women Police Station, alleging that her husband had married Vanitha without her knowledge.
Based on the complaint, the All Women Police registered a case against Jeganathan and Vanitha and conducted an investigation.
