Forest team seizes two spotted deer skins, 77 kg sandalwood pieces

A joint operation conducted by the Tamil Nadu Forest and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau and the Manapparai Forest Range team on Tuesday led to the seizure of two spotted deer skins, 77 kg of sandalwood in 14 pieces, a mobile phone, a trap cage and an unidentified wood sample. The seizures were made at Sokkampatti village falling under the Manapparai forest range limits in Tiruchi district.

The operation was conducted based on credible information regarding illegal possession and sale of spotted deer skins and sandalwood. During the operation, a 60-year-old man from Kollam in Kerala identified as a suspected seller / trader was apprehended. Further investigation based on the information gathered during the operation led to the identification and apprehension of another person suspected to be involved in the supply of sandalwood.
